Sample project bags

Batch 3 is not ready to post and will be posted by Monday 22nd August. All items in your order will be posted at the same time.

Sample bags were made to finalise fabric and design choices for our new drawstring bags.

We've settled on the final fabric - so there are some sample bags made using the fabrics we won't be going forward with.

We'll be making all of our bags from an organic waxed ripstop cotton that weighs 150g per square meter.

We also tested a cotton canvas and a heavier ripstop cotton - both about 250g per square meter. They're gorgeous fabrics - but they're overkill for project bags. The other issue I had with them is that the weight of the fabric makes it trickier to get the bags to close completely. There are moments I think I'm the only person who obsesses about this as I see a lot of bags which don't close well - but that isn't what I want to make.

For these bags we've used the lighter cotton at the top for the bags pull tight.

Choose between the cotton canvas - that's a smooth fabric and the ripstop cotton which has a subtle grid pattern for the body.

The bags aren't lined - it's unnecessary fabric - and the pockets are created by folding and stitching. All raw edges are enclosed with a variety of seam finishes.

The bags are printed with "MAKING IS POLITICAL". Printing is done with eco friendly water based ink.

The drawstring is made from recycled cotton, all stitching is done with cotton thread and the label is cotton too.

Small bag measures approximately 12cm deep. 28cm tall and 40cm wide at the top.

The bags have pockets on both sides - all 10cm deep and 4.5cm, 19cm, 2.5cm and 2cm wide - so a pocket of each size on each side.

Large bag measures approximately 12cm deep. 23cm tall and 37cm wide at the top.

The bags have pockets on both sides - all 10cm deep and 3.5cm, 3.5cm, 25cm and 7cm wide - so a pocket of each size on each side.

New bags will sell for £35-£45, depending on fabrics and finish.
