Christmas day is five weeks tomorrow. All of a sudden that feels quite soon. It always sneaks up on me, because we’re working on advent calendars in September and posting them in October. That means it’s time for some christmas gift ideas for knitters.

Posting times and stock availability

There’s been lost of press from retailers about delays as items clear customs. It’s reassuring that everything in the shop is ready to post (apart from the 2022 yarn clubs and the yarn for those is ready to dye). Orders received before 1400 go out same day. We use tracked post, so you can see where your parcel is. Overseas post is always a little trickier. Right now things seem to be arriving well. Sooner is always better though if you need a parcels shipped overseas (and we can post the parcel direct to the recipient for you).

Posting to the EU

As a side note I’ve answered several queries from people who want to send gifts to the EU. They’d like to avoid extra charges for the recipient to pay. I’m processing parcels for the EU through Etsy so you pay all the charges upfront (and it should also make it quicker for the parcel to clear customs). Please get in touch if you’d like more information about this.

If you’re a knitter who is being asked for gift suggestions and you’re not quite sure what your next project will be we sell gift vouchers. These are digital so they can be sent and received in moments. There’s no expiry date and you can take your time choosing what you’d love most.

There’s still time to get your hands on our Winter Yarn Bundle. These contain three sparkly stitch markers, two 100 gram skeins of 4ply yarn and one embroidered project bag. Although the colours are inspired by robins and christmas trees, neither colour would look at all out of place if you don’t cast on immediately. The yarns are our 4ply Blue Faced Leicester and nylon base, so perfect for socks, shawls and accessories.

If you’re a sock knitter then it’s likely you’ve already discovered the delights of self striping sock yarn. If not you’re in for a real treat. As you knit the yarn makes striped bands of colour. There are no ends to join in and your plain knitting will look as if you’ve been a lot more fancy. Self striping sock yarns make a great gift. A single skein is more than enough for a pair of socks (or fingerless mitts) and is sure to be appreciated. There are plenty of colour choices from rainbow brights to more muted options.

rainbow yarn, red, orange. yellow, green, turquoise, blue, violet, pink .Skein and sample showing how it knits up.

If you’re looking for a gift that lasts all year then our 2022 yarn club could be just the thing. Six yarn parcels spread through the year with the first arriving in January. If you’re anything like me you’ll really appreciate some lovely post then. The colours for the 2022 yarn club are inspired by my love of the seaside.

As always I’ll happy to answer questions and make suggestions – please let me know how I can help.
