The most common question in my inbox for the last couple of weeks has been “When are advent calendars going on sale?” It’s great to know they were so well loved last year that people want to make sure they don’t miss out. So we decided to open sales for the 2021 advent calendars sooner than usual.

There are several benefits in doing that. It gives us more time to work on all the extra treats that go into our advent calendars, making them extra special. It also means we can give you the chance to pay in installments if that suits you better. Finally knowing what we’re making lets us get everything ready to post really well in advance. Given that we have no idea what the post will be doing in October it’s good to know we can post parcels and give them more than a month to arrive if we need to.

So what’s in this years advent calendar? Our 2021 advent calendar gives you 24 colours to play with. The colours make up a stunning colour wheel. It’s up to you if you choose to work with them in order for a glorious gradient or mix them up for stunning stripes.

Our advent calendar comes in a cotton tote bag which is embroidered with an original design which will delight yarn lovers. We’re also including a zipped cotton pouch with a matching design. To help make this extra special we’re able to add a name or short message to the wooden tag on the pouch.

Each of the 24 mini skeins will be individually wrapped  and numbered – and we’ll make it easy for you to be sure that you can open the skeins in the order you want to work them by including a  postcard showing which colour is in which parcel.

As well as yarn, tote bag and project bag we’ll include six decorations and lots of extra treats too. None of the treats will be edible. Advent calendars will be posted by the start of November and will be sent by tracked and signed for post.

We’re offering two yarn choices for your advent calendar.

Our much loved Britsock base is a gorgeous 4ply or fingering weight yarn which works beautifully for garments and shawls, and is ideal for socks. Britsock is 40% British Blue Faced Leicester, 20% British Masham, 20% British Alpaca and 20% nylon. The wools have not been superwash treated.

Our Blue Faced Leicester and nylon 4py is perfect for you if you’d like a yarn that’s superwash. This yarn is a real star – hard wearing enough to make socks that last, yet gentle next to your skin.
