Welcome to The Knitting Goddess, an indie hand dyer of beautiful British yarns. We opened the Knitting Goddess in 2004, after Joy got hooked on dyeing yarn. Dyeing yarn started because Joy bought yarn to make a sweater and didn’t realise how different the batches were. That yarn buying disaster worked out really well for us!
We moved to Yorkshire in 2012, and it’s been the perfect place to grow a business which loves British wool. We’re close to some of the finest mills in the UK, and over time we’ve got to know the people who spin our yarn.
Who are we?
The Knitting Goddess is run by Joy and Bobbie. Joy does the dyeing, pattern designing, screen printing and everything else that involves getting messy. Bobbie is responsible for all the mini skeins we stock, getting yarn ready to dye and packing orders. We take equal responsibility for putting the kettle on and emptying the biscuit tin.
British Wool Dyed In Yorkshire
We hand dye yarns in a studio in Harrogate, Yorkshire. Most of he wool in our yarns is grown and processed in the UK. Most of our yarn is spun there too – and where that’s not the case you’ll find more details in the individual listings. We’re fans of local British wool. It’s wonderful stuff.
Our hand dyed yarn ranges from lace weight through 4ply/ fingering to DK weight. We love colour so you’ll always find a rainbow of choices across our different bases.
At The Knitting Goddess we know that we’d be nothing without our customers. We’re committed to providing excellent service and quick dispatch of orders. Of course we love to get positive feedback, but it’s even more important to us to know if you think we’ve let you down in any way so we can sort things out. Please contact us and let us know what we can do to make things right.
There’s more information in our Postage Queries about posting times, and what we’ll do if a parcel doesn’t arrive or isn’t what you wanted.
