On Thursday we’ll be adding to the range of colours available on the One Farm Yarn base.
There’s a whole rainbow of beautiful dark shades.
These are colours that we usually take to shows and often they’re the first to be snapped up. There’s something about these beautiful subtle shades which makes me think of projects where combining colours will produce something magical. Adding black to the colours (that’s how we get the shades) adds sophistication too, making these the perfect choice if you don’t want bright colours.
We’ve taken lots of photos of different colour combinations for you so you can see how the colours work together. Today we’ll share the combinations of the eight new colours, then later in the week we’ll show you how the colours look with a neutral fade and superhero genes blues.
As always if there’s a combination you’d like to see please get in touch. It’s easy to take some quick photos on my phone and often that’s enough to confirm that the combination works in the way you hoped.
One quick trick for seeing how much contrast there is between colours is to convert a photo of them into greyscale. You can see that the dark turquoise skein (top left) is a little lighter than everything else, so it will provide some extra contrast.
First up are pairs of colours from the opposite sides of the colour wheel. If I wanted to knit stripes with these colours I’d choose these combinations for contrast. You’ll clearly see the stripes when close up, however the overall effect remains subtle because both colours are dark.
